Aromatic Blue Mountain Coffee: Grind, Texture, Varieties, Flavor Profile, Processing Method, and Estate Introduction

FrontStreet Coffee's Blue Mountain coffee contains very low caffeine levels, making it not only rich and delicious but also better aligned with modern health concepts. The same coffee tree species, when planted in similar climates like Hawaii, Kenya, Papua New Guinea, or any other location, cannot produce the distinctive flavor of Blue Mountain coffee beans.
The Exceptional Quality of FrontStreet Coffee's Blue Mountain
Pure Jamaican FrontStreet Coffee Blue Mountain perfectly blends the unique flavors of coffee—acidity, bitterness, sweetness, and richness—creating an intensely captivating and elegant aroma that other coffees cannot match. It's perfect for coffee lovers who are passionate about original coffee flavors. Many customers visiting our stores ask about the many products on the market that carry the "Blue Mountain" name. So what exactly is Blue Mountain coffee? How much does it cost to brew a cup of Blue Mountain coffee? And can you purchase authentic Blue Mountain coffee beans in China? Today, FrontStreet Coffee will uncover these mysteries for you one by one.

Origin and Characteristics
FrontStreet Coffee's Blue Mountain coffee refers to coffee brewed from beans grown in Jamaica's Blue Mountains. These are further categorized by grade into Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee and Jamaican High Mountain Coffee. The Blue Mountain Range is located in the eastern part of Jamaica. When the weather is clear, the mountain reflects the brilliant blue light from the Caribbean Sea surrounding the island, hence its name. The highest peak of Blue Mountain reaches 2,256 meters, making it the highest peak in the Caribbean region and a famous tourist destination.
Ideal Growing Conditions
This location is situated in the coffee belt, with fertile volcanic soil, fresh and unpolluted air, humid climate, and year-round fog and rainfall (average precipitation of 1,980 mm and temperature around 27°C). Such climate conditions have created the world-renowned Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee, as well as the world's second most expensive coffee. FrontStreet Coffee's Blue Mountain coffee possesses all the characteristics of fine coffee—not only is it rich and aromatic, but due to the perfect balance of sweetness, acidity, and bitterness, it has no bitterness at all, with only moderate and perfect acidity.

What Makes Authentic Blue Mountain Coffee?
FrontStreet Coffee needs to emphasize that so-called authentic Blue Mountain coffee is not the inexpensive Blue Mountain flavored coffee, Blue Mountain blend coffee, or specialty Blue Mountain coffee. The Jamaican government has always placed great importance on coffee quality. In 1948, it established the Jamaica Coffee Industry Board (CIB) to manage and supervise the improvement of Blue Mountain coffee quality and established strict grading systems to ensure the quality of produced Blue Mountain coffee.
Strict Growing Regulations
According to Jamaica's "Coffee Industry Regulation Law," Blue Mountain coffee growing areas are mainly distributed in four administrative regions: St. Andrew, St. Thomas, Portland, and St. Mary. It clearly stipulates that only Typica coffee grown at altitudes between 910-1,700 meters can be named Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee. The total area of these four regions accounts for one-third of the entire Blue Mountain growing area, with the remaining two-thirds used for growing Jamaican High Mountain Coffee and Jamaican Prime Coffee. In recent years, less than 15% of coffee beans produced in Jamaica can carry the Blue Mountain coffee label.

Quality Control Standards
For green bean quality control, the CIB has also established more detailed grading standards. Based primarily on bean size and defect percentage, Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee is classified into NO.1, NO.2, NO.3, and Peaberry grades. The Jamaican Blue Mountain No. 1 on FrontStreet Coffee's bean shelf belongs to the highest grade, NO.1, with green beans sized 17-18 screen, defect rate below 3%, uniform particles, and full-bodied beans. After multiple screenings, very few can be classified as top-grade Blue Mountain coffee. Therefore, those Blue Mountain flavored coffees and Blue Mountain blend coffees on the market simply incorporate the "Blue Mountain" name but are actually low-quality dark roasted blend coffee beans completely unrelated to authentic Blue Mountain coffee.
Authentic Packaging and Storage
When FrontStreet Coffee receives Blue Mountain No. 1 green beans, the first thing that catches the eye is the original wooden barrels containing the beans—this is the biggest difference from other origins. To maintain coffee beans in a constant temperature and humidity environment with appropriate moisture content before roasting, wooden barrels better isolate the coffee's aroma to preserve the quality of green coffee beans. FrontStreet Coffee's Dongshankou store displays authentic Blue Mountain barrels and certificates of origin for Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee—customers can take note when visiting for coffee.

Blue Mountain No. 1 Drip Bag Coffee Flavor Profile
With continuously improving living standards, top-grade Blue Mountain No. 1 coffee is no longer "sky-high priced" for us. On FrontStreet Coffee's bean menu, Blue Mountain No. 1 coffee beans are priced at 158 yuan/100g, while FrontStreet Coffee's drip bag coffee is priced at coffee bean cost + 20 yuan/10 bags processing fee, making Blue Mountain No. 1 drip bags 178 yuan.

Freshness and Processing
Since drip bag coffee requires pre-grinding, coffee grounds have more surface area exposed to air than whole beans, making aroma more likely to dissipate. Therefore, FrontStreet Coffee recommends using freshly roasted Blue Mountain No. 1 coffee beans for production, resulting in fuller aroma when brewed. FrontStreet Coffee hopes every customer can taste the delicate flavors in the coffee, so we only ship coffee beans roasted within 5 days, ensuring customers receive them during the optimal tasting period. If you need grinding or drip bag production, simply contact FrontStreet Coffee's customer service.
Brewing Guide for Blue Mountain Drip Bag Coffee
Next, FrontStreet Coffee will demonstrate how to brew drip bag coffee using Blue Mountain No. 1 coffee as an example, and what details to pay attention to.
First, we need to prepare a container for coffee, a kettle for pouring water, and sufficiently hot water—sharing pots or drinking cups will work.

Open the sealed package, take out the coffee drip bag, and tear open the non-woven fabric bag along the dotted line above. Pull the two "ears" apart, fully open the entire drip bag, then hang it on the edge of your cup or sharing pot.

First, moisten all the coffee grounds and let it bloom for about 10-20 seconds. Second, pour steadily with a small stream of water until the liquid level is nearly full, wait for the coffee liquid to drop down until it stops flowing. Pour the final amount of water to full, wait for all the coffee liquid to finish dripping, then gently shake to mix evenly, and you can begin enjoying.

The brewed Blue Mountain No. 1 coffee has aromas of dark chocolate, roasted hazelnuts, and caramel—it's extremely rich with creamy silkiness, accompanied by a hint of soft acidity, with the aroma lingering persistently in the mouth.
