Although Blue Mountain coffee has a very small production volume, it possesses a strict grading system. Even when produced from the legally designated Blue Mountain region, it must be graded according to bean size and defect percentage.

From the grading system of Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee, it's evident that Blue Mountain coffee has very high requirements for defect percentages. In all coffee called Blue Mountain coffee, defects cannot exceed 2%. Additionally, since all are from the legally designated region, grades are distinguished only by size. Therefore, for Blue Mountain coffee, besides grade, the vintage and specific estate origin become crucially important.
