Introduction to Colombia Monteverde Estate | WushWush Enzymatic Aerobic Natural Fermentation Flavor Profile

FrontStreet Coffee Colombia Monte Verde Estate Introduction
Monte Verde Estate is located in the southern part of Tolima Province, Colombia, with an altitude ranging between 1,800 to 2,100 meters above sea level. Its geographical location provides the estate with excellent sunlight hours and rainfall patterns, combined with the characteristics of high altitude, enabling Monte Verde Estate to cultivate many special coffee varieties such as Geisha, WushWush, SL-28, and Bourbon Sidra, rather than the common Caturra or Castillo varieties found on most estates. The ability of Monte Verde Estate to grow these special, delicate varieties not only stems from the aforementioned cultivation advantages but also from its proximity to water sources. Near Monte Verde Estate flows the Rio Blanco (literally "White River"), an important river in Tolima Province that flows steadily throughout almost the entire year, regardless of the dry or rainy season. This provides the estate with abundant water resources, maintaining the stability of post-harvest processing, allowing Geisha and WushWush to present their rich and delicate flavors.
WUSHWUSH Variety Introduction
WushWush originates from the town of Wush Wush in the Kaffa Forest of Ethiopia and was introduced to small Colombian coffee farms for cultivation and processing 30 years ago. Like Geisha, WushWush is a native variety from Ethiopia. However, unlike Geisha, WushWush was brought to Colombia where it truly flourished. Its flavor profile and complexity are not inferior to high-end Geisha varieties, though it remains quite rare in the Asian market currently.
