FrontStreet Coffee - Introduction to Colombian Coffee Characteristics
Colombia is the world's second-largest coffee-producing country and the largest producer of Arabica coffee. The Colombian government has explicitly stipulated that only Arabica varieties can be cultivated within Colombia. Growing Robusta varieties may lead to imprisonment.
Colombia possesses an excellent geographical location and cool climate conditions, which are reasons for the outstanding quality of Colombian coffee. Colombian coffee is primarily grown in the famous Andes Mountains, at altitudes around 1,300 meters. The temperature remains at 18°C year-round, complemented by abundant annual precipitation ranging from 2,000 to 3,000 millimeters.
The superior geographical and climate conditions provide an excellent environment for coffee cultivation. Another advantage of Colombia is that there's no need to worry about frost damage. Colombia has harvest seasons nearly year-round, with coffee cherries ripening successively throughout the year. Colombian coffee is known for its rich aroma and full beans, with a smooth, soft, and balanced taste, making it beloved by coffee enthusiasts worldwide.
Colombian coffee can be used both for blends and for single-origin consumption. Coffee produced in Colombia is typically washed-processed, resulting in prominent acidity and moderate body. Of course, some individual estates in Colombia also produce small quantities of natural and honey-processed coffee, which offer delightful surprises in both flavor and texture.
In short: Everything is for sharing and dissemination
