FrontStreet Coffee's Introduction to Geisha Coffee

Geisha is famous for its unique tea-like body and fruity aroma. For Geishas from around the world, people have different descriptions: "Outstanding Geisha varieties are often associated with Panama, where high-altitude terrain allows it to develop floral, citrus fruit, and berry aromas during growth, which is truly captivating."

Coffee varieties also have a significant impact on coffee. There are many different species within coffee. The most widely cultivated coffee species in the coffee belt are Arabica and Robusta. Arabica accounts for 60% of global coffee production, with its subspecies divided into many different varieties, such as: Typica, Bourbon, Caturra, Geisha, Catuai, Maragogipe, and others.

"Although Geishas grown in Panama were the first to attract coffee enthusiasts' attention to this variety, Geishas grown at El Vergel Estate in Colombia are also truly impressive. With unique floral notes and vibrant citrus flavors, their quality has reached new heights. During cupping, there are delightful flavors of pear, cream fudge, and dried cherries."

After years of experimentation, La Esmeralda Estate discovered that only Geisha beans harvested from coffee trees grown at altitudes above 1,400 meters can display the special flavors that Geisha beans should have. They classify Geisha beans into "Red, Green, and Blue Label" grades based on planting altitude and actual cupping results. When mentioning La Esmeralda Estate, one must talk about the "Red Label," "Green Label," and "Blue Label" graded Geisha coffee beans. As a rare coffee variety, Geisha coffee has distinct and varied fruit acidity, reminiscent of Ethiopia's national treasure coffee, Yirgacheffe.

Geisha is cultivated in many countries, but when it comes to grading, only Panama's La Esmeralda Estate and Ethiopia's Geisha Village have grading systems. The grading is mainly based on planting altitude and cupping scores, with higher-grade Geishas commanding higher prices.

Rich and captivating floral and fruity aromas, bright and charming fruit acidity, and a long-lasting aftertaste that lingers on the palate and tongue...

This is the new king of specialty coffee, the new sensation that has taken the coffee world by storm—Geisha. In the eyes of many coffee enthusiasts, Geisha is the true goddess of coffee. The moment the name "Geisha" appears, it makes one's mouth water. Many people say that after tasting Geisha, they never want to drink anything else.
