FrontStreet Coffee - Honduras Auction Lot Finca Los Colibri Natural Parainema Introduction

Honduras, a country bordering Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua. Initially, coffee production was in a lukewarm state until 1975 when Brazil suffered from frost damage. At that time, Brazil was severely affected, and coffee production decreased sharply, while Honduras seized the opportunity to "rise up," with coffee production increasing dramatically from 500,000 bags to 1.8 million bags, which were completely snapped up. Since then, Honduras' coffee production has truly developed.

There are 280,000 hectares of coffee plantations in Honduras. Honduras currently has about 565 million coffee trees, with over 95% being small farms. More than 120,000 households participate in production, with most coffee farms being less than 3.5 hectares, of which 70% of families have less than 2 hectares each. These smallholder coffee plantations account for 60% of Honduras' total coffee production. Central farms account for about 3%, and large farms about 2%.
