Roberto Serafín Ramírez Fernandez

Roberto has always been a coffee grower, a third-generation farmer with a farm named Limoncito (meaning "little lemon") in La Encarnacion, Ocotepeque. He and his family work very hard, and their passion for coffee is reflected in the taste of their product. He enjoys working in this field because he knows that every investment he makes in the plantation brings better flavor and aroma to his coffee. His farm is not at a very high altitude (1100 MASL), but it is the ideal choice for the selected coffee variety, which is Parainema (a coffee variety developed by IHCAFE).

He plans to invest the proceeds from coffee sales back into improving his farm and processing. He hopes he can help give back to his community to provide more educational opportunities.

Coffee Tradition

Our family's coffee tradition spans over 80 years. In 1930, my father Don Elisandro Ramírez, a native of La work Ocotepeque, came to the land of Encarnación Ocotepeque, where he eventually settled. His interest in coffee came from reading pamphlets sent by Mr. Pompilio Ortega to the municipal authorities, which explained all the benefits of coffee and represented the future of the country. Therefore, the first piece of land of 1 manzana was acquired near the Playon riverbank, where they planted their first Typica variety. The farm I'm now involved with was purchased by my father in the 1950s for the price of 800 pounds of Typica coffee, and it wasn't until 1985 that it was changed to the Caturra variety. Five years ago, it was completely destroyed by rust attacks, and later we began planting the Catuaí variety.
