Yirgacheffe Sub-regions
The division of Yirgacheffe sub-regions is well-known to everyone, with the main distinctions being Kochere town, Yirgacheffe town, Wenago town, and Gelana Abaya town. In terms of administrative divisions, Abaya is located in the north, while Gelana is in the south, adjacent to Kochere. The coffee produced in these two areas is merged into "Gelana Abaya" after entering the ECX.
Gelana Abaya Growing Region
The growing area of Gelana Abaya town is located on the high mountains on the eastern shore of Lake Abaya. Gelana Abaya town is situated precisely between Lake Abaya to the west and Yirgacheffe town to the east. Lake Abaya is the largest lake in southern Ethiopia, thus providing important water resources for washed processing plants. Farmers growing coffee in Gelana Abaya mostly belong to the Tore ethnic group of Ethiopia, with most coffee growing in high-altitude areas between meters.
Wondwossen Alemayehu Processing Plant
The Wondwossen Alemayehu processing plant in Silinja village is located at a high altitude of 1920 meters, where premium coffee is produced in this micro-region.
