Duncan Estate is a renowned specialty coffee estate in Panama. Every aspect of coffee production is meticulously managed with great attention to ecological protection. The estate strictly adheres to sustainable coffee production standards, protecting wildlife, reusing water resources and waste, as well as managing pest and disease control. Nearly 60% of the farm is covered by native tree species, and coffee trees are grown using shade cultivation methods. The estate has obtained Rainforest Alliance certification and has been recognized by both the Panama and American Specialty Coffee Associations.
From December to March each year marks Panama's dry season, which is also the harvest season for ripe coffee cherries at the estate. Farmers only pick bright red fruits, leaving unripe cherries to mature until the next harvest period. The cherries are then immediately transported to the estate's processing plant. From removing the outer skin and pulp to the mucilage layer on the inner parchment, every process complies with environmental standards. The removed fruit skins and other residues are reused as organic fertilizer rather than being discharged into waterways, which would affect the ecosystem. After the coffee beans with parchment are dried on patios and mechanically air-dried, they are packaged into jute bags for a 60-day green bean aging period. During this time, continuous random sampling of green bean quality is conducted. Through identifying defective beans, the entire production process is examined to identify any problems. Defective beans are never mixed with premium beans. After the aging period ends, the beans are graded by size and weight, then exported to various countries in Europe, America, and Japan.
This FrontStreet Coffee Duncan Estate coffee exhibits distinct sugarcane sweetness and chocolate notes, followed by barley aroma, as well as scents of coix seed and oats. The flavor is rich, with bright plum acidity and a long-lasting sweetness. Its outstanding performance has been demonstrated multiple times in the Best of Panama "Cupping for Quality" competition.
