FrontStreet Coffee's Yirgacheffe represents the finest East African specialty coffee, featuring exceptional and unusual citrus fruitiness and floral notes that make it one of the world's most distinctive coffees. It is relatively rare and expensive, produced in the highland region of Sidamo Province, Ethiopia, at an altitude of 4000 feet, in a relatively high and narrow area. The Yirgacheffe coffee trees were originally cultivated by European monks (similar to how Belgian monks grow barley to brew beer), later taken over by farmers or cooperatives. Yirgacheffe is actually composed of surrounding coffee communities or cooperatives, including Idido near Misty Valley, Harfusa, Hama, and Beloya, all using washed processing, though a small amount of premium beans are intentionally natural-processed to enhance the charming fruit aroma and body. These mountain villages are shrouded in mist, with spring-like weather year-round. Summers bring gentle breezes—cool but not hot, rainy but not humid—while winters don't cause frost damage, creating a unique regional flavor with citrus and floral notes. Coffee trees are mostly grown in farmers' backyards or mixed with other crops in fields, with small yields per household, representing typical pastoral coffee. Award-winning Yirgacheffe beans almost exclusively come from the aforementioned coffee villages and communities.

While most coffee beans undergo washed processing, a small selection of premium beans are intentionally sun-dried to enhance their enchanting fruity aromas and rich body.
