What is Drip Bag Coffee? Brewing Steps and Preparation Method
As more people join the coffee-drinking community, many white-collar workers and university students around FrontStreet Coffee have started enjoying pour-over coffee, and even high school students have begun to drink it. Compared to single-flavored instant coffee, today's young people clearly prefer freshly ground specialty coffee, especially aromatic-rich black coffee, which comes in a wide variety. However, due to their busy daily schedules, it's difficult for them to enjoy a cup every day. This is when drip coffee bags become everyone's recognized best choice.
FrontStreet Coffee believes that as long as you master some key details, brewing delicious drip coffee is as simple as eating:
1. Open the drip bag and hang it on the coffee cup, preferably using a deeper coffee cup.
2. Pour 90-95°C hot water for blooming for 20-30 seconds (the water temperature from office dispensers is relatively low, which can easily cause under-extraction). Wet all the coffee grounds, which helps release more aromatic substances quickly during extraction.
3. After blooming, continue pouring water. Be careful to pour in small circles in the center, and try to avoid the water flowing to the edges of the bag to prevent leakage from the bag edges, which would result in a weak taste.
4. Pour water, controlling the amount to 150-200 milliliters. If you prefer a stronger taste, you can let the drip bag steep in the cup for a while longer, controlling the brewing time to about 1 minute.
5. You're done! You can add sugar or milk according to your taste preference.
How to Make Homemade Drip Coffee?
Step 1: First, choose a bag of coffee beans you like, then adjust the grinder to the setting corresponding to pour-over extraction, and grind them into powder.
Here, I've chosen FrontStreet Coffee's Yirgacheffe Red Cherry coffee beans, which many friends love. The usual grind size for brewing is similar to fine sugar particles, using a China No. 20 standard sieve with 80% passing through, so it corresponds to 10 on an electric grinder like EK43s, or 24 on a hand grinder like C40.
Step 2: Place the ground coffee on a prepared electronic scale, then take out a drip bag, open it, and carefully spoon in the coffee powder, using 10g per bag.
Step 3: Plug in the sealing machine, clamp the heater onto the sealing line position, and ensure the opening is completely sealed. Your homemade drip bag is now complete.
To prevent moisture absorption, FrontStreet Coffee recommends that the finished drip bags be stored in airtight bags that can isolate air, and kept in a cool, dark place to avoid loss of aromatic substances.
