Required Materials and Equipment

You can use the same type of water as that used in household filtration dispensers or filtered tap water.

Some coffee beans/coffee powder;

For one cup of siphon coffee, the water amount is 110ml (but the water volume will decrease by about one-fifth after brewing), corresponding to approximately 15g of coffee powder;

If conditions permit, it's best to choose coffee beans within 10 days of roasting and grind them into powder before brewing;

The fineness of the coffee powder can reference the coarseness of "extra fine granulated" sugar sold in the market.

A complete siphon coffee set (here we use the Hario TCA-3 model), including: top lid, upper chamber, lower chamber, siphon stand, filter, alcohol lamp (using 95% industrial alcohol) and alcohol lamp wind shield. Because adjusting the flame intensity of the alcohol lamp during use is somewhat difficult, it should be set slightly smaller (the cotton wick should only expose 2-3mm from the top).

One 10-gram coffee measuring spoon;

One filter cloth or filter paper for siphon use; the filter cloth should be scalded with hot water before first use to remove any foreign flavors.

Specific Brewing Steps

Add appropriate amount of pure water to the lower chamber of the siphon (you can use pre-heated pure water to shorten the boiling time. In this operation, the added water amount is 2.5 cups, approximately 280ml, with two cups for guests/friends, and the extra half cup is specifically for the brewer to taste beforehand. If the taste seems abnormal at that time, do not serve it to guests.)
