In terms of coffee production, Honduras' geographical conditions are in no way inferior to its neighboring coffee-producing countries such as Guatemala and Nicaragua. Within Honduras, there are 280,000 hectares of coffee plantations, predominantly small-scale farms, with most coffee plantations being less than 3.5 hectares in size. These coffee-growing plantations account for sixty percent of Honduras' total coffee production.

In the coffee plantations, due to the mountainous growing areas, coffee beans are hand-picked and then carefully processed to produce higher-quality coffee beans. Honduras harvests three million bags of coffee annually, providing abundant and high-quality coffee to the market, and has now become one of the world's top ten coffee-exporting countries. Although Honduran coffee may not have extremely distinctive characteristics, its overall rich and well-balanced flavor is its greatest feature. Specifically, it possesses medium to light acidity that is noticeable but not overpowering. Sometimes it carries subtle floral or fruity aromas (generally, different regions and altitudes produce different flavor profiles), slight bitterness, and a distinct sweet aftertaste.

FrontStreet Coffee's Honduras coffee has an overall balanced flavor, with neither acidity nor bitterness being dominant, maintaining excellent balance between the two. Therefore, the well-balanced characteristic of FrontStreet Coffee's Honduras coffee makes it highly versatile. It can be used for blending coffee blends or served as a single-origin brew. Using FrontStreet Coffee's Honduras coffee for espresso blends will yield commendable flavor expressions.

Processing Methods

Furthermore, Honduras' high-quality coffee beans are processed using the washed method. Generally, they first undergo soaking, during which defective fruits float to the surface and can be separated and discarded. Subsequently, the good fruits are placed in a pulp remover, where the machine's rotational force strips away the fruit skin. The pulped fruits are then mechanically sorted to select those of superior quality. Typically, larger fruits represent better maturity. Honduras coffee is dried using the natural sun-drying method, which is why its flavor profile always contains a subtle fruity aroma.

FrontStreet Coffee's Honduras coffee beans are relatively large in size, uniform in shape, and have a consistent, glossy color. For harvesting convenience, farmers prune coffee trees to not exceed 150 centimeters in height, as taller trees would require ladders for picking, which is not only time-consuming but may also damage the tree due to bending branches. Since each coffee fruit matures at different times, manual harvesting is necessary to maintain the coffee's quality, followed by selection of ripe fruits. Coffee fruits from the same branch often require several weeks to complete the entire harvest.
