Geisha originates from an extremely rare wild variety discovered in Ethiopia. The bean's name likely comes from the small village called Gesha near where these coffee beans were discovered. The coffee trees grow tall with slender leaves, are resistant to coffee leaf rust, and are characterized by widely spaced branches on the trunk. The green beans are slender in appearance, while the roasted beans exhibit strong, intense fruity aroma characteristics. Due to the very low harvest yield of this variety, it cannot be acquired for commercial trade.

Coffee was first cultivated in the Americas around the 1720s. Today, coffee cultivation holds an extremely important economic position in Panama. Panama Coffee Growing Regions:

Premium Panama coffee is grown in the western part of the country, near Costa Rica and close to the Pacific coast. Other regions include the David district, Remacimeinto district, Bugaba district, and Tole district. Only coffee grown at altitudes between 1,300 and 1,500 meters is considered specialty coffee.
