FrontStreet Coffee · Ethiopia Bench Maji Coffee Estate Origin Flavor Characteristics and Variety Introduction

This estate is owned by Gashaw Kinfe Desta and is located very close to the town of Geisha. Geisha town is also the birthplace of the now-famous "Geisha" variety. The Geisha variety is currently commonly found in Panama, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Guatemala. It was precisely because of the popularity of the Geisha variety that attention was rekindled in its homeland for the Gesha variety. From coffee harvesting, Mr. Gashaw is extremely meticulous, only harvesting fully ripe coffee cherries and drying them on raised racks.

At this time last year, we first obtained Bench Maji beans, but only air-shipped about 10kg to the country. Our own team drank several kilograms, and the remaining beans were quickly snapped up by coffee enthusiasts, leaving many disappointed. This year, we are reintroducing this uniquely styled natural process coffee to share with more friends.

Bench Maji Region

Bench Maji is located in southwestern Ethiopia, not far from the neighboring country of Sudan, and can be easily found using Google Maps. Although the flavor of Bench Maji Gesha Estate differs from Panamanian Geisha natural process, it is still well worth tasting. It is truly rare among Ethiopia's many natural process coffee regions, distinguished from other coffees by its diverse spice and fruit flavors.
