Panamanian Coffee Estate Origins Flavor Profile Introduction Elida Estate Panamanian Coffee Characteristics
Elida Estate's renowned coffee is also their washed-processed beans, which offer a clean and clear mouthfeel with floral notes. Currently, Elida Estate is experimenting with various processing methods, including both washed, natural, and honey-processed coffee beans. It's worth noting that Elida Estate's honey-processed coffee beans combine the processing methods of both natural and washed processing. After removing the outer skin from fresh coffee cherries, they undergo direct sun-drying fermentation, which maintains a clean mouthfeel while also achieving the fruity and wine-like aromas produced by fermentation in natural processing.
This FrontStreet Coffee Panama Elida coffee bean is not particularly large in size but has rounded grains. Due to the honey processing, the center line of the beans is not clear, and obvious traces of mucilage remain on the outside of the beans, giving them a green color.
This FrontStreet Coffee Elida bean can be roasted to a medium-light level, with beans removed near the end of the first crack to preserve its rich flavors while ensuring overall roundness. The dry aroma can be said to be the most captivating aspect of this bean. After grinding, you can clearly perceive an elegant floral fragrance, fresh and delicate. However, unlike FrontStreet Coffee's Yirgacheffe, whose floral notes are consistently uplifting, this has a more gentle, unfolding quality. Additionally, there are distinct honey-sweet aromas, with the overall dry aroma being deep and melodious. After adding water, the honey-sweet fragrance becomes even more prominent.
The coffee enters the mouth with a very gentle acidity that sweeps across the palate. Its aroma is more concentrated in the front portion of the mouth—that instant moment after entry. The aftertaste left in the mouth has a faint cocoa flavor, but what's more prominent is an elegant floral aroma. Body has always been a weakness of Panama coffee, but this honey-processed coffee bean shows excellent overall roundness, with body also performing significantly better than usual.
Panama, a country not widely understood by Chinese people, has always maintained an inseparable connection with high-quality coffee. Fresh, elegant, floral, and honey-sweet flavors have always been recognizable characteristics of premium Panama coffee, making it unforgettable for those who drink it.
Elida Estate's Legacy
What we're bringing to you this time is not the Geisha from Esmeralda, nor coffee beans from the Berlina group, but rather coffee from another famous farm in the Boquete region—ELIKA ESTATE (Elida).
The history of Elida Estate can be traced back to 1918. This farm is owned by the Lamastus family, and the farm's name, Elida, was the name of the farm owner Robert Louis Lamastus's wife at that time.
Elida Estate is located in the Alto Quiel region of the Boquete growing area, with an altitude ranging approximately from 1,670 to 1,725 meters. The main coffee varieties grown in the estate are improved Caturra, with also small amounts of Bourbon varieties. ELIKA ESTATE (Elida) has also been a multiple participant in BOP (Best of Panama), achieving excellent results and gaining widespread recognition as a result.
