Honduras Coffee Bean Characteristics

Honduran coffee beans are large in size, uniform in shape, and have a consistent, glossy color. For harvesting convenience, farmers prune coffee trees to no more than 150 centimeters. If they grow too tall, ladders would be necessary for picking, which is not only time-consuming but could also damage the tree structure by bending branches. Since each coffee fruit ripens at different times, maintaining the excellent quality of coffee beans requires manual harvesting, followed by selection of only the ripe fruits. Coffee fruits from the same branch often require several weeks to complete the entire harvest.

Processing Methods

High-quality Honduras coffee uses the washed method to process coffee beans. This typically begins with soaking, during which defective fruits float to the surface and can be drained away and discarded. Subsequently, the good fruits are placed in a depulping machine, where the machine's rotational force removes the fruit skin. After depulping, the fruits go through machine screening to select those of excellent quality. Typically, larger fruits represent better ripeness. Honduras coffee uses the natural drying method, which is why its flavor always contains a delicate fruity aroma.
