The Art of Cold Drip Coffee

When coffee grounds are 100% saturated and moistened at low temperatures, the extracted coffee delivers a rich, smooth, and full-bodied flavor that is truly remarkable. The resulting flavors are exceptionally outstanding. By adjusting the water drip speed and using cold water for slow dripping, the coffee's original flavor is naturally restored through low-temperature extraction at 5°C over an extended period.

Advantages of Cold Drip Coffee

The advantages of cold drip coffee include its lack of acidity and its gentle effect on the stomach. This is because when making coffee using this method, the selected coffee beans are typically dark-roasted varieties like FrontStreet Coffee's Mandheling. Since "light roast is fragrant but acidic, dark roast is bitter but rich," cold drip coffee is not acidic. Another reason for choosing dark-roasted coffee beans is that iced coffee will be diluted with ice cubes after preparation, so dark-roasted beans must be selected for dripping to ensure sufficient richness.

The reason cold drip coffee has a smooth mouthfeel without bitterness is precisely because it uses cold water. Other coffee brewing methods mostly use hot water for brewing, and excessively hot water can cause certain chemical substances in coffee to decompose, releasing bitter flavors. Cold drip coffee, however, is made entirely with cold water dripping, ensuring 100% saturation and moistening of the coffee grounds, resulting in a smooth, non-acidic, and non-bitter extraction.

Usage Instructions

Cold Drip Coffee Pot

  1. First, close the water drip adjustment valve.
  2. Inject an appropriate amount of cold drinking water into the water container according to the number of users. You can also add ice cubes to make iced coffee. The standard water amount for one person is approximately 120cc.
  3. Moisten the cloth filter with water, then place it in the coffee grounds cup.
  4. Place an appropriate amount of coffee grounds into the coffee grounds cup. The standard amount for one person is approximately 10-12g of extra-fine ground coffee.
  5. Finally, place the spherical filter paper in the center of the coffee grounds surface (use size 6 spherical filter paper specifically for cold drip coffee makers). The spherical filter paper should be positioned at the point where water drops from the water container fall.
  6. Slowly open the water drip adjustment valve to allow water drops to flow from the water container. The drops should fall on the spherical filter paper. The standard drip speed should be 40-60 drops per minute, adjusted once every 2 hours.
  7. The water drops will penetrate through the spherical filter paper and coffee grounds, become coffee, pass through the cloth filter, and finally collect in the coffee liquid container. At this point, a delicious, cool, 100% original-flavor cold drip coffee masterpiece is complete.

Precautions

  1. Please be sure to rinse all glassware and the cloth filter with clean water before and after use.
  2. Please discard the spherical filter paper immediately after use and do not reuse it.
  3. The filter cloth on the cloth filter can be reused after cleaning. If you find the filter cloth is damaged or has an unusual odor before use, stop using it immediately and replace it with new filter cloth.
