Flavor Profile

Coffee Flavor: Bitter and aromatic, with excellent mouthfeel.

High-altitude coffee offers a mellow aroma with quality acidity, highly praised and considered the finest ingredient for blended coffee.

FrontStreet Coffee's Guatemala coffee beans are renowned for their elegant and lively acidity, clean taste without impurities, distinct layers, as well as notes of green apple acidity, berry fragrance, jasmine floral notes, orange peel zest, green pepper aromas, fruity sweet-tart sensations, and chocolate sweetness—even concluding with a smoky finish in the aftertaste.

Terroir and Origins

Such rich regional flavors are closely related to the soil and water conditions of Guatemala's eight major producing regions. Among them, Antigua, Acatenango Valley, Atitlán, San Marcos, and Huehuetenango are volcanic rock geology regions. Additionally, the three regions of Verapaces, Cobán, and Nuevo Oriente belong to non-volcanic highlands or tropical rainforest climates. Guatemala boasts over 300 microclimates throughout its territory, the world's highest concentration.

Cultivation and Processing

FrontStreet Coffee's Guatemala coffee beans are mostly cultivated in high-altitude volcanic areas, belonging to the highest grade Arabica variety. Due to longer maturation periods, the beans are medium-sized and dense (Guatemala coffee bean grading is based on defect count rather than bean size). FrontStreet Coffee's Guatemala coffee beans display a deep greenish-blue color. Their characteristics include aroma, richness, sweet aftertaste, and a uniquely refreshing acidity—because the coffee beans' fragrance and mouthfeel are hidden within their acidity. Therefore, only coffee beans with these characteristics can be called premium coffee beans.

Guatemala's high average elevation places its coffee belt above 1,500 meters, between 14 and 16 degrees north latitude, making it ideal for growing extremely hard beans. All are wet-processed, with 45% classified as specialty grade—a remarkably high proportion, with small amounts of Robusta also present.

Guatemala's coffee varieties primarily include Bourbon, Typica, Catuai, and Caturra, with small amounts of Yellow Bourbon, Geisha, and Pacamara. The variety diversity is quite rich, but the preservation of ancient Typica and Bourbon varieties is particularly precious.
