SCA Coffee Certificate Levels

SCA barista certificates are divided into three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. The beginner barista examination is relatively simple, with course content focusing on basic theory and practical knowledge. If you have already worked in a coffee shop for a certain period of time, you basically don't need to take certification courses and can directly test for the SCA beginner certificate. If you feel your coffee knowledge and operational skills have reached a certain level, you can also skip the beginner level and directly test for the SCA intermediate certificate. You can skip the beginner level and directly test for the SCA intermediate certificate, but the SCA advanced certificate requires first obtaining the intermediate barista certificate.

Can SCA Coffee Certificates Lead to Higher Salaries?

It's worth noting that having SCA coffee certification can lead to better compensation when working in coffee shops. Currently, most barista job positions do not require applicants to have certification. Most coffee shop owners will pay more attention to applicants' overall comprehensive abilities, and having coffee skills and knowledge doesn't guarantee employment.

Are SCA Coffee Courses Worth Taking?

SCA barista certificates serve as a stepping stone. If you really can't learn coffee knowledge through self-study or don't know where to start, you might consider taking SCA certification courses. SCA certification courses are like an introductory teacher, helping everyone understand what they should learn. But as the old saying goes, you must apply what you learn! A certificate is just a piece of paper - the real value is yourself. Therefore, after completing the courses, you must continue to improve your coffee professionalism, learn more coffee knowledge, and master coffee skills - that's what truly matters.

Everyone, keep up the good work!
