How to Make White Toast Dirty? Is Raw Toast Milk Dirty Coffee Delicious? How to Make Dirty Coffee Layer? What Are the Best Parameters for Dirty Coffee?
What is Toast?
Toast, a soft, sweet, square-shaped bread. Compared to other types of bread, the uses of toast can be described as extremely versatile. It can not only serve as the "protagonist" of meals, made into various delicious dishes for people to enjoy, but also act as a "supporting role" to enhance the quality and flavor of different ingredients.
Why is FrontStreet Coffee Introducing Toast?
Why would FrontStreet Coffee, a coffee processing workshop, suddenly introduce toast? The reason is that recently many friends have asked FrontStreet Coffee to recreate a rather "unique" coffee dish made with toast—White Toast Dirty.
Understanding White Toast Dirty
But please don't misunderstand—making it with toast doesn't mean adding toast to the Dirty, but rather adding the aroma of toast! The specific method is very simple: just replace the "milk" in the Dirty with "milk that has been soaked with toast"~ Although the method is very simple, it can bring a dual improvement in aroma and texture to the milk. Through soaking toast, the milk will acquire the bread aroma of toast, while the texture will also become richer and smoother. In Western countries long ago, people would improve the flavor by soaking toast in inferior wine. So today, FrontStreet Coffee will recreate and taste this recently popular White Toast Dirty to see what kind of flavor it really has~
Important Safety Notice
However! FrontStreet Coffee does not recommend that everyone easily recreate this. Because if not handled properly, this preparation method poses certain safety risks. We all know that fresh bread has a very short shelf life, and if not eaten in time, it will grow mold and deteriorate. And if soaked in milk for a long time, the rate of deterioration will be greatly accelerated! Because milk is rich in nutrients, it can be said to be the perfect breeding ground for bacteria and mold. Therefore, FrontStreet Coffee does not recommend easy replication, especially for friends with more sensitive stomachs~
How to Make White Toast Dirty
First, we need to choose a toast with a relatively rich aroma to provide flavor to the milk. Here, FrontStreet Coffee has chosen raw toast, made with butter, cream, and other ingredients, which can give the milk more aroma and texture. For the soaking ratio, FrontStreet Coffee chose 1:5 (bread 1, milk 5), this ratio is not too large. Because toast will absorb some milk during soaking, the final amount of milk obtained will be less than what was initially poured in, so we need to add a little more milk to ensure we have enough to make a full cup of Dirty.
Preparation Steps
The specific steps are very simple. First, we take a sterilized sealed jar, tear the toast into pieces, and put it inside. Then pour in the milk, seal it, and place it in the refrigerator to soak for 4 hours.
After 4 hours, take it out and use a strainer to filter out the bread crumbs, and your "toast milk" is ready!
Making the Coffee
FrontStreet Coffee took a small taste and found it really has a very obvious toasted bread aroma, and the overall texture is richer than regular milk, somewhat similar to the texture of purified milk. Now we take out the pre-chilled ice glass and start making the Dirty. Here, FrontStreet Coffee uses 160ml of milk and 40ml of espresso.
This time, FrontStreet Coffee used beans from FrontStreet Coffee's bean selection—the FrontStreet Coffee Premium Blend, with nutty, chocolate, and butter cookie flavors. Extraction parameters: 20g of coffee grounds to extract 40ml of coffee liquid in 30 seconds. Once the milk is prepared, simply place the cup directly under the espresso outlet.
When the coffee liquid reaches the target volume, we can stop the extraction, and a clearly separated White Toast Dirty is ready. Next, after taking a quick photo, FrontStreet Coffee began the tasting.
Tasting Experience
With the first big sip, you can clearly feel the warmth of the espresso and the coldness of the milk colliding in your mouth, creating a full sense of contrast. Then the flavor experience begins—the roasted aroma of the espresso and the wheat fragrance of the toast milk each reveal themselves before starting to blend, transforming from distinct and stimulating to gentle and balanced after fusion. After swallowing, there's an aftertaste similar to buttery chocolate bread, which is very pleasant;
The second sip still maintains a distinct temperature and flavor contrast, but compared to the first sip, because the integration of coffee and milk has slightly improved, the stimulation and sense of contrast are somewhat weaker, but still very enjoyable;
By the third sip, because there's not much coffee liquid left, the milk flavor takes the upper hand. Compared to coffee, it tastes more like a glass of milk with wheat aroma and coffee flavor. But it's still very delicious~ So the above is FrontStreet Coffee's experience sharing of White Toast Dirty. Overall, it's quite good. But as FrontStreet Coffee mentioned, due to certain safety risks, it's not recommended for everyone to easily recreate it, especially for friends with weaker digestive systems~
