What is Bulletproof Coffee? Effects and Benefits of Bulletproof Coffee, Its Potential Harms, and How to Make It
Once upon a time, there was a coffee that created a huge wave in Hollywood! It claimed to provide more energizing effects in a short time compared to regular coffee, and long-term consumption could also reduce fat and achieve weight loss results. Everyone rushed to drink it, and it was once placed on a pedestal - this is "Bulletproof Coffee"!
What is Bulletproof Coffee?
"Dòng duō má dài" (wait a moment), the "bulletproof" in Bulletproof Coffee neither comes from a group name you might know, nor does it mean it can stop bullets. It's called "bulletproof" because its inventor felt it could provide an effect similar to a "bulletproof vest" - but what it protects against isn't bullets, but "body weight"! Some friends might ask: how exactly does it provide protection?
This brings us to the ingredients used to make Bulletproof Coffee: black coffee, unsalted grass-fed butter, and MCT! Unsalted grass-fed butter: refers to butter made from cows that only eat grass, and it has fat-burning properties; MCT: abbreviation for Medium Chain Triglycerides, which translates to medium-chain triglycerides - an easily digestible fat extracted from natural coconut oil! When consumed and metabolized, it can produce large amounts of ketones. Ketones are a type of brain cognitive enhancement secreted when people are hungry. This cognitive enhancement allows the body to consume fat as an energy source to partially fill hunger when lacking sugar and carbohydrates! As you can see, the ingredients used in this coffee can suppress people's desire to intake sugar, other carbohydrates, and other substances that "fill" fat after drinking! During this time, the body continues to remain in a fasting state due to not consuming food, and fat will be continuously burned, thus achieving fat loss effects.
According to Bulletproof Coffee founder Dave Asprey, his inspiration for inventing Bulletproof Coffee came from our Tibet! Here's what happened: during a trip to Tibet, he drank a cup of butter tea and immediately felt energetic and extremely full! So after returning to his country, he used the inspiration from Tibetan butter tea to research and develop Bulletproof Coffee!
How to Make Bulletproof Coffee
So, how should you make Bulletproof Coffee? It's very simple - we just need to prepare one shot of espresso, hot water, butter, and coconut oil~ The reason we use coconut oil is because it's easier to obtain than MCT. Next, FrontStreet Coffee will demonstrate how to make this Bulletproof Coffee! First, we extract a shot of espresso (FrontStreet Coffee uses 20g of coffee powder here, extracted for 30 seconds to get 40ml of espresso), then add 200ml of hot water to make an Americano (or any black coffee), then add 15g of butter and one spoon of coconut oil (about 10ml), put them in a blender and mix well, and it's done!
The drinking experience isn't as greasy as imagined. Instead, it adds the fragrance of coconut and the richness brought by butter to the original flavor of the coffee.
Does Bulletproof Coffee Really Prevent Weight Gain?
To be honest, Bulletproof Coffee can indeed achieve fat loss effects as described! However, it's not the coffee that works, but the two types of oil used in the ingredients. Even if you replace the coffee with tea, it can still achieve fat loss effects. So we know that the essence of drinking Bulletproof Coffee is actually drinking oil!
However, FrontStreet Coffee does not recommend everyone to try it lightly, because drinking Bulletproof Coffee requires a reasonable diet plan. If you continue to consume high-sugar, high-calorie foods and plan to use Bulletproof to eliminate fat, it will only have the completely opposite effect, because it is itself a high-calorie beverage! Moreover, drinking these two oils can easily cause a series of negative reactions for friends with poor digestive systems. Therefore, for your own health, please be cautious~
