As mentioned in the previous article, once ice melts, the taste of iced latte can be significantly compromised, and the overall texture may not be as rich as that of hot latte. For this reason, FrontStreet Coffee teaches everyone an additional step when making iced latte: shake!

Image

Using external force to create foam in the coffee liquid with poured milk not only preserves the original rich aroma of the coffee but also adds the rich texture of dense foam. To enhance our taste buds' perception of other flavors and highlight a pleasant sweetness, FrontStreet Coffee also adds a tiny bit of salt when making iced latte.

Method One: Creating Foam

First, find a milk frothing tool - it can be a handheld electric milk frother, or you can use a French press directly like FrontStreet Coffee does. The ingredients needed are: milk frother, espresso, fresh milk, fine salt, and an iced glass.

Image

First, pour 180ml of fresh milk into the French press

Image

Next, sprinkle a small pinch of fine salt (a tiny amount is enough)

Image

Extract 40g of espresso liquid from 20g of coffee grounds for 28 seconds, and pour it into the French press

Secure the lid and press firmly. Pull the plunger up and down quickly 5 times to inject air, then place the metal filter below the foam layer and press continuously 6-10 times until the foam becomes smooth.

Take out the glass, add two ice cubes as a base (or use an iced glass directly), and pour the freshly made milk coffee into the glass.

Method Two: Shaking to Create Foam

First, find a sealed container that allows us to shake vigorously to create foam. It can be a specialized shaker, or common jars and bottles from home. The material doesn't matter as long as it can hold ice cubes and is sealed tightly to prevent liquid from leaking. FrontStreet Coffee isn't picky - here we're using a cleaned honeysuckle drink glass bottle that was just finished, because why waste when you can save?

The ingredients needed: wide-mouth sealed bottle/shaker, espresso, fresh milk, fine salt, ice cubes, and a glass.

Image

First, add 50g of ice cubes to the glass bottle, then pour in 180ml of fresh milk

Image

Sprinkle a small pinch of fine salt (a tiny amount is enough)

Image

Extract 40g of espresso liquid from 20g of coffee grounds for 28 seconds, and pour it into the glass bottle

Image

Tighten the lid and shake vigorously up and down about 20-30 times until the foam becomes thick and dense

Finally, pour the milk coffee directly into the prepared iced glass, and it's ready to enjoy~
