These merchants are essentially playing word games, labeling non-Blue Mountain beans as "Blue Mountain flavored coffee." Due to the high recognition of Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee, many imposters have appeared on the market, such as Blue Mountain-style coffee, Blue Mountain blend coffee, or simply called Blue Mountain coffee. However, these are all blended coffees created by industry professionals trying to simulate Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee's flavor profile by mixing various coffee beans together—there might not be even a single genuine Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee bean among them.
Meanwhile, some professionals in the industry still have outdated perceptions of Blue Mountain coffee from over a decade ago, believing that all Blue Mountain coffee has been purchased by Japan and that what's sold in China isn't genuine Blue Mountain No. 1 coffee. In reality, due to China's massive market demand, authentic Blue Mountain coffee has been legally imported for many years. Owners of Blue Mountain coffee estates have also visited China in recent years to further help Chinese consumers understand Blue Mountain coffee beans. The Blue Mountain coffee available in the Chinese market isn't so rare that it's all counterfeit. Today's Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee production area is larger than before, and with Japan's recent weakening consumer power, genuine Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee is indeed available in China—you can buy authentic products if you know how to identify them.
How to Distinguish Between Genuine and Fake Blue Mountain Coffee?
Genuine Blue Mountain No. 1 coffee is among the world's coffees grown under the most superior conditions. Jamaica's climate, geological structure, and topography together provide an exceptionally ideal natural environment. Designated Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee can only be grown in the Blue Mountain region, located north of Kingston in the eastern part of the island.
