How to Make Coffee Ice Cubes: Do Cold Brew and Iced Coffee Need Coffee Ice Cubes?
For more specialty coffee knowledge, please follow the WeChat official account: FrontStreet Coffee
When making iced coffee or other frozen beverages in summer, regular ice cubes can melt and dilute the coffee, making it taste watery. If you want to enjoy a rich iced coffee without losing the coffee's flavor, then coffee ice cubes are the best solution.
That's right, FrontStreet Coffee suggests a simple solution that just requires some preparation: make useful coffee ice cubes! They are the perfect solution for iced coffee and can also be used in any number of other beverages.
Coffee Ice Cubes
The easiest way to make coffee ice cubes is to simply brew coffee as usual, fill ice cube trays with it, and place them in the freezer.
Ingredients
42 grams coffee beans
420 milliliters filtered water (14 ounces)
Friendly Reminder
Prepare pour-over coffee as usual - here, we use 42 grams of coffee and 420 milliliters of filtered water to make 420 milliliters of coffee. After brewing, carefully pour the coffee into ice cube trays and freeze for about 2 hours.
Cold Brew Coffee Ice Cubes
The best solution here is to make cold brew coffee and then use the cold brew to make coffee ice cubes. The cold brew method of making coffee produces a smoother taste and lower acidity, making it less likely to cause any dairy products to curdle.
Cold brew coffee requires more preparation time - at least 8 hours (overnight), but we recommend 24 hours - which means starting the day before you actually need them. However, we think you should always keep coffee ice cubes in your freezer anyway.
Espresso Ice Cubes
Due to espresso's crema and low volume, espresso is not an ideal beverage for making ice cubes. Even if you're willing to drink multiple cups of espresso, you would need to first mix the coffee oils into the espresso before placing it in trays to freeze. Then once they start melting in your drink, you might end up with a creamy mess that creates an inconsistent taste and doesn't look appetizing. Cold brew is a simpler solution.
Milk Coffee Ice Cubes
Had too much coffee for the day but want a delicious iced drink? Another favorite of ours is milk coffee ice cubes. Simply fill a glass with the coffee ice cubes you made in the previous step, then pour in milk. We recommend using the cold brew method to make the ice cubes, as the lower acidity is less likely to cause the milk to curdle when melting.

Good acidity tends to be sweet, crisp, and enhances other qualities of coffee. Coffee varieties renowned for their pleasant acidity include...

Grading of Kenya Premium Coffee Beans: What Do AA, AB, and PB Mean in Kenyan Coffee
Coffee is graded when it is still green coffee beans before roasting. Any single coffee tree can produce all grades of coffee, from E to C, which are then sorted by size. This is done for roasting consistency, as similarly sized beans roast at similar rates, while beans of different sizes roast unevenly (for example, smaller beans may burn while larger beans remain under-roasted).
