Hartmann Coffee Farm Landscape

Finca Hartmann is a third-generation family business located in Santa Clara, Renacimiento. It consists of 2 farms - Santa Clara Finca Hartmann and Ojo de Agua, situated between 1,300 to 2,000 meters above sea level, with nearly 100 hectares of forest reserve bordering Parque Nacional de La Amistad. Coffee grows under the shade of native tropical rainforest trees that have existed for many years. The Hartmanns try not to cut down trees; they replant native trees and plantains to maintain the natural cycle and healthy soil and fauna. Hartmann Coffee is "bird-friendly," which means it is friendly to nature. Plantains produce fruit, birds eat them, and the work on site is done without killing insects. They use green products to avoid herbicides, making it semi-organic. This increases biodiversity and makes it an excellent place for observing flora and fauna. The natural aspect appeals to birdwatchers, permitted insect collectors, photographers, or those seeking rest. Finca Hartmann is a paradise for birdwatchers. In summer, they receive migratory birds in addition to local resident birds. In total, there are about 345 species, including trogons, tanagers of various colors, hummingbirds, flycatchers, chestnut-mandibled toucans, and more.

Hartmann Family Coffee Farm

Hartmann Farm is a third-generation family business located in Santa Clara, Renacimiento. It consists of 2 plantations: Santa Clara Hartmann Farm and Ojo de Agua, situated between 1,300 to 2,000 meters above sea level, with nearly 100 hectares of forest reserve surrounding La Amistad National Park.

Coffee grows under the shade of native tropical rainforest trees that have existed for many years. The Hartmans try not to cut down trees, replanting native trees and bananas to maintain the natural cycle as well as healthy soil and wildlife.

The farm, also known as Nugo Farm, is located between 1,750 to 1,950 meters in the Yurutong area of Renacimiento, Chiriquí Province, nestled between a tropical rainforest nature reserve on one side and the border with Costa Rica on the other. The plantation's location and environment are very challenging, with cold nighttime temperatures, wind, and rain.

Today, Hartmann Farm is a family business: each family member enthusiastically participates in management and plays different roles in the farm's growth, production, and tourism. Coffee is a way of life for them, their culture, their family: a lot of work, and a lot of love. His employees and buyers return every year because they love his vision: working with nature, farming the land without destroying it.
