FrontStreet Coffee - Blue Mountain Coffee Introduction
If coffee is classified by bean variety, it can basically be divided into two major categories: Arabica and Robusta. Among these two coffee bean varieties, Arabica beans have lower caffeine content, and all the world's premium coffees come from the Arabica species, accounting for about 70% of global coffee production. Its flavor is rich, with excellent acidity and floral notes, making it most suitable for black coffee lovers who enjoy it without any additives, allowing them to best appreciate the original flavor of coffee.
Typica: High sweetness, pure mouthfeel, pleasant acidity. Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee is precisely of the Typica variety.
Blue Mountain Coffee is produced on the Blue Mountains of Jamaica. The unique flavor of Blue Mountain Coffee is inseparable from the exceptionally favorable geographical location and climate conditions of the Blue Mountains. The Blue Mountains are located in the coffee belt between 25 degrees north and south latitude, featuring fertile volcanic soil, fresh and unpolluted air, year-round rainfall, and significant temperature differences between day and night. Most importantly, every afternoon, clouds and fog envelop the entire mountaintop, not only providing natural shade for the coffee trees but also bringing abundant moisture, making the taste and aroma of Blue Mountain Coffee outstanding.
Pure Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee perfectly blends the unique flavors of coffee—sour, bitter, sweet, and mellow—creating an elegant character that is both intense and captivating, unmatched by other coffees. Fans of Blue Mountain Coffee affectionately say: "Blue Mountain Coffee is a 'coffee beauty' that combines all the advantages of good coffee."
Today's Blue Mountain Coffee growing region is a small area with only 6,000 hectares of cultivation. Scarcity makes it valuable, and with an annual coffee bean production not exceeding 900 tons, it has become the world's top coffee, without exception.
Due to Japan's continuous investment in Jamaica's coffee industry, Blue Mountain Coffee is largely controlled by the Japanese, who have priority purchasing rights for Blue Mountain Coffee. They purchase 90% of Blue Mountain Coffee, leaving only the remaining 10% available to the rest of the world.
Only coffee grown in the Blue Mountain region above 1,800 meters in altitude can be called Blue Mountain Coffee. Coffee beans generally grown at lower altitudes and in other regions can only be called "Jamaican High Mountain Beans" or "Jamaican Washed Beans." Compared to Jamaican Blue Mountain, their flavors are vastly different. However, the area of these production regions is twice that of the true Blue Mountain area, accounting for 75% of the country's production, so "Jamaican coffee" is by no means equivalent to pure "Blue Mountain Coffee."
