Is Panama Geisha Cold Brew Coffee Delicious? What are the Flavors of Panama Geisha Cold Brew?
FrontStreet Coffee Geisha Cold Drip Coffee
Cold drip coffee (also known as Dutch coffee) originated in Europe. Ice cubes melt naturally into water droplets that fall slowly onto the coffee grounds, and extracting a single pot typically takes more than six hours, one drop at a time. The flavor shifts with the roast level, water volume, drip speed, and grind size. Much of the cold drip equipment you see is beautiful in its own right, with many pieces prized as collectibles.
Required Ingredients
Panama Geisha coffee beans: 30g
Ice cubes: 300g
Required Equipment
Cold drip coffee maker
Coffee grinder
Brewing Steps
- Grind 30g of coffee beans to a sugar-like fineness (reference: Fuji grinder, setting 4)
- Place the grounds in the middle chamber of the cold drip tower and gently shake to level the surface
- Fill the top chamber with 300g of ice cubes, open the valve to start the drip, and maintain a rate of 2–4 drops every 10 seconds
- After 4–6 hours of extraction, collect the coffee from the bottom chamber, refrigerate it, and rest it for another day before serving — the flavor peaks then
Flavor Characteristics
- Cold drip coffee is rich in flavor yet refreshingly cool — the top choice for summer single-origin drinking
- The grounds are fully saturated at low temperature, so the Geisha comes out with a juice-like texture and distinct floral notes
- It is simple enough for anyone: adjusting the drip speed and letting cold water do the slow work preserves the coffee's natural character beautifully
FrontStreet Coffee Recommendation
Panama is where Geisha made its name — discovered by Esmeralda Estate and entered into the Best of Panama competition in 2003, where it stunned the judges with an average cupping score of 94.6, a record-breaker that made Geisha the world's most coveted champion bean overnight. If you want to explore that legend in cold form, FrontStreet Coffee's Panama Boquete Geisha is an approachable, entry-level Geisha that delivers the classic orange-blossom honey character, oolong-tea finish, and fine fruit acidity.
For an easier everyday alternative, FrontStreet Coffee's "Strawberry Candy" blend pairs Costa Rica honey-process beans with Panama Geisha — delicate florals plus sweet fruit — and it works wonderfully as cold brew: 30g of beans ground to fine sugar, steeped in 360g of water at a 1:12 ratio, refrigerated for 8 hours, then filtered and rested. In the glass: grape juice, rose, sweet orange, and a whisper of fruit wine.
