FrontStreet Coffee - Ethiopian Coffee Introduction

If you're dealing with coffee beans originating from Africa, you'll notice distinct acidity and fruity characteristics. Particularly with Ethiopia, coffee from this region offers a tea-like body, blueberry flavors, rich fruit aromas, and excellent acidity.

Ethiopia, one of the world's least developed countries, is also home to some of the world's finest coffee. With an annual production of about 330,000 tons, coffee accounts for 60% of export earnings and 15% of world production. These are remarkable numbers. Among Ethiopian coffees, Yirgacheffe is the most famous, but there's much more to know!

Yirgacheffe - Worka

This bean originates from Gediyo, Yirgacheffe, Gedeb, and Worka in southern Ethiopia. Among these, Worka is a classic producing region in Yirgacheffe, with elevations between 1,900 and 2,100 meters.

Upon tasting, you'll experience floral and citrus notes along with brown sugar sweetness, plus distinct jasmine aromatics. The finish is long-lasting, with varied and full flavors.

Sidamo - Guji

Guji is Sidamo's finest small producing region, situated at elevations of 1,850 to 2,000 meters. With abundant natural resources, coffee from this region exhibits high sweetness, with floral notes complemented by hints of fresh grass.

This bean is grown in Oromia, Guji, Adola, and Masina in southern Ethiopia. The growing soil in these areas consists of fertile volcanic ash with sufficient moisture and water content, rich in organic matter.

The brewed coffee offers lime aroma, soft white grape acidity, lemon-citrus notes, subtle lychee fragrance in the aftertaste, and hints of caramel.

Yirgacheffe - Shalana

This bean comes from higher elevation growing regions, between 2,100 and 2,300 meters, allowing it to absorb more sunlight. Made exclusively from 100% Arabica beans, it delivers exceptional quality and purer flavor!

It features elegant magnolia floral aromas, sweet mellow richness, milky aftertaste, and the clear, bright clarity characteristic of Geisha coffee.
