FrontStreet Coffee - Introduction to Guatemalan Coffee

Guatemala, a country where darkness and civilization collide, boasts ancient historical monuments, charming coastlines, and tropical American-style jungles. This land of Mayan wisdom has cultivated another gem: Guatemalan coffee.

After a 36-year civil war, with traces of war visible throughout the cities, Guatemalan coffee not only features smooth, high-hardness beans but also offers rich flavors, balanced acidity, and sweetness that resembles chocolate. Sometimes, specific growing regions add a hint of smokiness, further emphasizing its depth and mystery.

High-quality Guatemalan coffee has a bright taste, possessing floral flavors and pure fruit notes, with moderate body and a long-lasting aftertaste.

Guatemalan coffee can be called the jewel in the crown of Central American coffee. While this doesn't mean all Guatemalan coffee is excellent, it does indicate that the probability of producing 88+ grade coffee in Guatemalan regions is higher than in surrounding countries.

High-quality Guatemalan coffee features bright taste characteristics, possessing floral flavors and pure fruit notes, with moderate body and a long-lasting aftertaste. Coffee farms vary in scale and quality, from large estates to small farms built on steep mountain slopes, and coffee from the same region can produce different distinctive flavors.

Guatemala has different growing regions within its borders, each with advantages in altitude, soil, and climate that enable the production of outstanding coffee. Antigua is home to some of the oldest estates in Latin American coffee regions, many of which are grants from the same family's original land.
