FrontStreet Coffee - Nicaragua Coffee Introduction
The widespread volcanic ash and shade-grown cultivation methods produce high-quality Nicaraguan coffee with a mellow, gentle flavor and subtle acidity. Nicaraguan coffee beans are among the largest of all coffee beans. MADRIZ is located in the mountainous region of northern Nicaragua, bordering Nueva Segovia, Jinotega, and Esteli. This region is peaceful and elegant, featuring the famous Somoto Canyon. The local population consists mainly of indigenous people from various tribes and people of mixed Spanish and indigenous heritage from the colonial period (predominantly Chorotegas).
The area produces coffee, develops arts and crafts processing trade, and has traditional delicious cuisine. Madriz is characterized by a cool climate. Its small towns may appear simple, but feature beautiful house roofs and white buildings with special tiles. The area also has many coffee plantations, with mountains covered in green pine and oak forests.
Madriz mountain beans are ecological coffee with extremely hard shells, grown in purely natural cultivation environments using complex methods to maintain the delicate aroma and taste. They are high-quality mountain beans grown between Matagalpa and Jinotega in northern Nicaragua, with an average annual rainfall of 1500-1700mm and temperatures between 20-29 degrees Celsius. All are hand-picked, with labor and time costs exceeding those of ordinary beans by many times.
Characteristics of Nicaraguan Coffee
Compared to Guatemalan coffee, Nicaraguan coffee is relatively unknown. Compared to Guatemala's mountain beans, Nicaraguan beans are more balanced but lack some distinctive characteristics. It has medium-sized beans, mild flavor, and is very aromatic and rich. Nicaragua is located in central Central America, with the best Nicaraguan coffee produced in Jinotega and Nueva Segovia in Matagalpa.
