FrontStreet Coffee - Introduction to Colombian Narino Coffee

The Narino microbatch is cultivated in the coffee-producing regions of northern Narino Province. Named after its origin, it is characterized by its beautiful appearance and low defect rate. The green beans are exquisite, compact, and uniform in size. The volcanic soil characteristics of Narino give the coffee beans bright acidity, with berry and citrus aromas, combined with a sweet base note and flavors of citrus and caramel.

Colombia enjoys a mild climate with humid air, and its diverse climate allows for harvest seasons throughout the year. Different varieties of coffee mature successively at different times. The unique Arabica coffee beans grown here produce coffee with a rich flavor and endless aftertaste, truly earning the designation of fine coffee.

Colombian premium coffee achieves a perfect balance of acidity, bitterness, and sweetness. With its unique aroma, the fragrance fills the entire mouth after drinking. When the aroma in the mouth is exhaled through the nose, the experience is remarkably full-bodied.

Narino Province is located in southwestern Colombia, bordering the Pacific Ocean to the west and neighboring Ecuador to the south. The Andes Mountains run through the province, featuring magnificent mountain ranges and beautiful landscapes. Many rivers flow through this area toward the south. It belongs to Colombia's high-altitude coffee cultivation zone and has nurtured many small farmers producing specialty coffee. Narino Province produces approximately 150,000 bags annually, with only about 6,000 bags classified as specially selected beans.

Taminango is located in the valleys of Narino Province at an altitude of 1,800 meters. Each farmer's coffee plantation does not exceed three hectares. Therefore, coffee cultivation in this region follows very traditional methods, particularly using complete sun-drying processes for coffee beans. Coffee trees in Taminango are grown alongside banana trees and flowing streams (shade-grown). Because they are cultivated with these fruit trees, special chemical fertilizers are not needed. For this reason, production is only 500 bags per month (during harvest season).
