FrontStreet Coffee - Colombia Huilan Coffee Introduction

This washed Huilan bean comes from the Cooperativa de Caficultures del Occidente de Antioquia in eastern Antioquia, Colombia. We have had a cooperative relationship with this supplier for over 5 years, making them a long-term stable partner. The person in charge of the cooperative is a kind-hearted gentleman who always picks sweet oranges for us when we visit the estate. He is exceptional at growing fruits, producing flavors that are refreshing and clean, with stable production and supply, and excellent quality.

The Cooperativa de Caficultures del Occidente de Antioquia in Colombia holds both Fairtrade and C.A.F.E. Practices certifications. The Fairtrade certification aims to create new methods for economic trade, taking a moral stance that prioritizes producers.

C.A.F.E. (Coffee and Farmer Equity) Practices is a private standard established by Starbucks that requires compliance with some "zero tolerance" standards (such as paying minimum wages, not using child labor, and ensuring traceability). These standards must be followed to become part of this practice program.

Coffee beans from Colombia's Huilan region are among the finest premium coffees in Colombia, widely recognized for their excellent balance. The coffee beans grown here have a full-bodied flavor with a heavy texture, featuring nutty, chocolate, and caramel aromas along with a smooth, pleasant fruit acidity.
