FrontStreet Coffee - Sidamo Lion King Coffee Introduction

If the Yirgacheffe region were compared to Pixar Studios, then Sidamo would be Disneyland - vibrant and colorful. The "Lion King" claims its unique place with its changing floral notes and blueberry with lemon-scented sweetness. Or perhaps it occupies an entire hilltop. Even for those accustomed to the native flavors of Ethiopia, the "Lion King" will surely astonish you with its stunning preserved peach aroma and confident, full-bodied berry fragrance.

This "Lion King" comes from the Guji region of Sidamo, Ethiopia. Variety: Heirloom (a hybrid of Bourbon and traditional Ethiopian coffee varieties. Bred in Scottish laboratories in the 1930s. It's a typical Kenyan coffee variety with experimental cultivation in Central and South America. While not resistant to pests and diseases, it offers excellent coffee flavor.) The coffee trees are planted in fertile volcanic red soil at altitudes between 1800m-2000m, classified as Grade 1 (G1) washed specialty coffee beans. Using the "washed method" for green bean processing, with a medium-light roast degree and pour-over ratio of 1:15, it delivers an exceptionally rich layered experience, full of floral notes and berry acidity-sweetness - truly a rare specialty coffee bean!

About Sidamo Region

Previously, we discussed Ethiopia's nine major coffee-producing regions. Today, we're sharing this coffee bean from one of these nine regions - Sidamo! Sidamo's coffee flavors are incredibly diverse, with different soil types, microclimates, and countless native coffee varieties creating distinct differences and characteristics in the coffee produced by each town. From 2010-2012, it consistently received exceptional ratings of 92 and 94 points from the authoritative American coffee review website Coffee Review. This region features nutrient-rich, well-drained volcanic soil. These fertile nutrients are maintained through the decomposition of natural organic matter. This batch is produced by the Hirsasa Cooperative near Dilla town. The cooperative was established in 1976 and is currently a member of the Sidamo Coffee Farmer Cooperative Union!
