Mandheling coffee is produced in Sumatra, Asian Indonesia, also known as "Sumatra Coffee." The main production areas include Java Island, Sulawesi Island, and Sumatra Island, with 90% being Robusta varieties. Among these, the "Mandheling" produced in Sumatra Island is the most famous. The finest traditional Arabica coffee grown in northern Sumatra is marketed under the names Lintong and Mandheling. To be precise, Lintong refers to coffee grown in a small area located southwest of Lake Toba in the Lintong administrative region.

Coffee growing areas are scattered across high, undulating clay plateaus covered with ferns. Lintong coffee is grown without shade, without chemical products, and is almost entirely owned by small private growers. Mandheling is a broader term that includes Lintong coffee and growing areas with similar conditions in Diari [capital Sidikalang] and northern Lake Toba.

Mandheling is a premium coffee bean grown on plateau mountain terrain at altitudes of 750-1500 meters, with the highest quality first-grade Mandheling produced in Takengon and Sidikalang. Due to Mandheling's irreplaceable mellow flavor, UCC Ueshima Coffee Co., Japan's largest coffee company, collaborated with the renowned Sumatran coffee merchant PT Gunung Lintong in 1995 to operate their first coffee plantation in Asia, demonstrating the significant position of Mandheling in the coffee world.

Golden Mandheling was developed over a decade ago through the adoption of stricter quality control by Japanese experts. After four rounds of manual bean sorting to eliminate defective beans, Golden Mandheling with dark green color and uniform bean appearance is produced, creating another wave of market demand that has even driven Europe and America into frenzy.

Mandheling coffee is considered one of the world's most mellow coffees. When tasting Mandheling, you can clearly feel the smoothness on your tongue.
