FrontStreet Coffee - Golden Mandheling Coffee Introduction
The total coffee production from Java, Sumatra, and New Guinea ranks among the top in the world, with 10% being Arabica and the remainder Robusta. Famous coffee bean varieties include Java coffee (Jawa), Sumatra coffee (Sumatra), Mandheling coffee (Mandheling), Celebes coffee (Celebes), Catimor coffee (Catimor), Djember coffee (Djember), and Tim Tim coffee (Tim Tim). Among these, Sumatra's specialty Mandheling coffee offers a sweet yet refreshing flavor profile, while New Guinea specializes in coffee with fruity aromas and balanced flavors.
Indonesia is a southern paradise composed of many beautiful islands. One of these islands, SUMATRA, has a LINTONG region in its northern part. Carefully selected beans, hand-picked and processed manually, undergo the SEMI-WASHED processing method, followed by sun drying, hulling, drying processes, two cleaning procedures, and four rounds of manual selection.
Indonesia is a country centered around the equator, composed of many large and small islands. Its coffee production ranks third globally, with most being Robusta varieties. Arabica varieties are also cultivated on Java Island, Sulawesi, and Sumatra Island. Particularly, Sumatra's Mandheling coffee can be considered the representative of Indonesian coffee, with GRADE 1 being the premium grade with the fewest defective beans.
Golden Mandheling enjoys a prestigious reputation in the coffee world, originating from the Lake Toba mountain region in North Sumatra, Indonesia. Pawani Company exclusively sells Golden Mandheling as the premium grade among Mandheling coffees. The raw beans undergo three rounds of meticulous manual selection and refined processing. FrontStreet Coffee slow-roasts them to a medium-dark roast, revealing not only the rich, wild aroma characteristic of Mandheling coffee but also a thick body and pure flavor profile that exudes an additional touch of elegance. The caramel aftertaste is particularly captivating!
Produced in Sumatra Island, Indonesia, the natural and pollution-free Golden Mandheling comes from Indonesia's main coffee-producing region - Sumatra Island. It grows in the Lake Tawar area of the Gayo Highland region at the northern end of the island, at an altitude of 1100-1400 meters, with volcanic soil suitable for coffee cultivation. Mainly cultivated by independent small farmers, its special feature is the use of shade trees for coffee cultivation, which helps enhance coffee quality.
The land and special varieties give Mandheling coffee a rich, full-bodied texture. After deep roasting, it reveals a rich woody aroma and cheese-like fragrance. Upon tasting, it offers a mellow aroma with rich sweetness, a syrup-like smooth mouthfeel, thick and mellow flavor, prominent bitterness with gentle acidity, and an aftertaste as rich and astringently sweet as Bordeaux red wine. It is the best choice for enjoying bold single-origin coffee!
