FrontStreet Coffee - Yemen Mocha Coffee Bean Introduction
Yemen Mocha is one of the world's oldest coffees, but only recently has it gradually been recognized as one of the best and most delicious coffees in the world. The long-established Mocha coffee is synonymous with coffee itself, its unique aroma and acidity deeply attracting many coffee enthusiasts.
The name Mocha coffee comes from Mocha in Yemen, a port that can no longer be used. It has almost been completely filled with sand, no longer serving as a port but has become a sandbar.
As a single-origin coffee, Yemen Mocha possesses unique charm and a long history.
Before the 6th century AD, Yemen was always known as Arabia, therefore the coffee trees exported from there to other places were also called Arabica coffee trees.
Yemen was the first country in the world to produce coffee as an agricultural crop on a large scale. Today's Yemen Mocha coffee cultivation and processing methods remain basically the same as those used hundreds of years ago. In most Yemeni coffee farms, farmers still resist using artificial chemical products such as chemical fertilizers. Coffee farmers grow poplar trees to provide the necessary shade for coffee growth. As in the past, these trees are planted on steep terraces to maximize the use of limited rainfall and scarce land resources.
Even more distinctive is that Yemen Mocha beans are still packed in straw-woven bags for transport, unlike other places where chemical woven bags are used. If you are a pure naturalist, Yemen Mocha can satisfy your desire to drink completely natural coffee.
Mocha coffee beans are smaller and rounder than most coffee beans, showing a light green color, which makes them look more like peas. Mocha coffee beans resemble Ethiopian Harar coffee beans in appearance - small in size with high acidity, mixed with a strange and indescribable spicy flavor. With careful tasting, you can also discern a hint of chocolate, making the attempt to add chocolate to coffee a natural development process.
The characteristic of Mocha coffee lies in its rich fruit aroma, with obvious wine-like, spicy, and nutty flavors. Some have commented that Yemen Mocha tastes very much like blueberries, while others say this is the unique "wild flavor" characteristic of the Red Sea region.
Knowledge point: In Saudi Arabia, Yemen Mocha is so favored that people there are willing to pay expensive prices for even lower-quality Mocha coffee.
