FrontStreet Coffee - Introduction to Nicaraguan Coffee

Nicaragua is located in the central part of Central America, bordering Honduras to the north, Costa Rica to the south, the Caribbean Sea to the east, and the Pacific Ocean to the west, with a total area of 130,400 square kilometers. The north-central part of Nicaragua is highland; the eastern part is coastal plains with many jungles and swamps, with low and flat terrain; the western part is coastal lowlands, with many volcanoes and lakes to the east. The Nicaraguan plains have high temperatures and abundant rainfall, belonging to a tropical marine climate; the western coastal lowlands have significantly less precipitation than the eastern part, with distinct dry and wet seasons, belonging to a tropical savanna climate; the central highlands have an average annual temperature of 18°C, annual precipitation of 1500-2500 mm, with May to December being the rainy season.

Nicaragua is an economically backward agricultural country and one of the poorest countries in Central America, while coffee is Nicaragua's pillar industry, producing nearly 100,000 tons of coffee beans annually. Due to a poor economic foundation, the coffee industry remains relatively backward, with both production and reputation being much weaker compared to its neighbor Costa Rica. However, high-quality Nicaraguan coffee ranks among the top in the world coffee beans and enjoys a good reputation.

Nicaraguan coffee has a relatively mellow aroma when drunk, carrying the characteristics of Central American coffee. The coffee flavor has lower acidity, rich and subtle taste, balanced sweetness, with nutty bouquets, often presenting vanilla flavors.

Nicaragua's economy relies heavily on agriculture and is a productive producer country with different coffee-growing regions that create different coffee bean qualities, gradually gaining attention from the specialty coffee community! Pleasant acidity, moderate body

Delicate and smooth mouthfeel with balanced taste experience

The feeling of coffee in the mouth is the most fascinating. This delicate texture can bring out the coffee's flavor more completely and finely, allowing the taste nerves to more fully experience the rich coffee flavors. A smooth mouthfeel can reduce the chaotic feeling brought by rich flavors, allowing for clearer memory of the different feelings brought by different tastes.

Nicaraguan coffee belongs to the Central and South American style of coffee. Although the acidity is not very high, it feels refreshing. The body is also not high, but the overall feeling is just right, neither too light nor too thick, making it more acceptable. In the light acidity, you can also vaguely taste the flavor of red wine, which is also a major characteristic of Nicaraguan coffee.

Knowledge point: Nicaragua has a suitable climate and volcanic ash soil rich in minerals, which provides a unique environment for coffee tree growth.
