Also known as "Sumatra Coffee." The main producing areas include Java Island, Sulawesi Island, and Sumatra Island, with 90% being of the Robusta variety. Among these, the "Mandheling" produced in Sumatra Island is the most renowned.

Mandheling is a premium coffee bean grown on plateau mountainous areas at altitudes of 750-1,500 meters. After roasting, the beans become quite large, with raw beans appearing brown or dark green. It has a special caramel-like aroma, with a fragrant and rich taste. Sweet fragrance, pure bitterness, and mellow richness, with a hint of sweetness and slight acidity, leaving a long-lasting aftertaste and resonance.

Mandheling coffee is considered one of the world's most mellow coffees, with a rich and solid texture and pleasant acidity. It has a fragrant aroma, moderate acidity, and rich sweetness that is intriguing, suitable for deep roasting to emit a rich fragrance. This aroma contains a masculine quality, and drinking it gives a feeling of unrestrained satisfaction, as if roaming freely in the world, symbolizing a spirit of tenacity and courage. In addition, this coffee also has a faint earthy aroma, which some describe as the fragrance of herbal plants.

The blended coffee we generally drink also uses Brazilian or Colombian coffee beans as base beans, adding different proportions and roasting depths of other coffee bean varieties. If you're more particular, you can find a coffee ratio that suits your taste. For a rounded taste, you can add light-roasted Santos coffee; for a richer taste, add deep-roasted Mandheling coffee.

Single-origin coffee can be used for espresso, and using single-origin coffee beans to make espresso is gradually becoming a popular trend. In fact, from the concepts above, it's clear that coffee made from single-origin beans using espresso preparation methods is also espresso. The type of coffee beans used. If the resulting espresso is made from single-origin coffee beans (such as Brazilian, Colombian, Mandheling, etc.), then I believe this espresso can also be called single-origin coffee.

Mandheling can be used as both single-origin and espresso beans. Relatively speaking, Mandheling for espresso has richer oils and a more mellow and intense flavor. It carries flavors of caramel, nuts, and dark chocolate. As for which is more fragrant and tastes better, it depends on personal preference.

Knowledge point: High-quality coffee fruits generally have good shade effects. Tree shade can block the high-temperature sun at noon, reducing the metabolic rate of coffee, which helps the development of nutrients, fruit acids, and aromatic substances.
