FrontStreet Coffee - Ethiopia Sidamo Ch'ire Ameli Processing Station G1 Washed Introduction
The Guji region in Sidamo, along the Mora Mora River in southern Ethiopia, has always been considered the original production area for forest coffee. Administratively, Guji belongs to Oromiya/Oromia in southern Ethiopia, where the indigenous Gujii Oromo people reside. Coffee cultivation has always been at the core of highland culture in Oromia. Within this region, several small coffee farms combine their harvested cherries for processing and export.
The washing processing station is Ch'ire Ameli in the Nensebo woreda of Guji, where over 800 small coffee farmers deliver their cherries. After extremely strict selection, the cherries are placed on traditional raised beds for sun drying. The green beans processed at this station achieved an incredible score of 91.75 and secured third place in the 2015 Ethiopia National Taste of Harvest Competition.
