Which is More Expensive: Geisha Coffee or Blue Mountain Coffee? Panama Geisha Coffee Pour-Over Method Introduction
FrontStreet Coffee - Geisha Coffee Brewing Introduction
Many connoisseurs around the world consider Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee to be one of the finest coffees in the world. The exquisite balance of aroma, body, and acidity makes Blue Mountain Coffee truly special. However, what really sets Blue Mountain Coffee apart is its smooth, sweet aftertaste.
Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee has always enjoyed a high reputation in the coffee world. Most of the early Jamaican coffee was purchased by Japan, and with its scarce production, the chance for us to acquire it is relatively low. This time, we have the opportunity to indulge in this exceptional coffee!
The oak barrel packaging of Blue Mountain Coffee locks in freshness. The raw beans are large in size and bright green in color, belonging to the traditional TYPICA variety. Using medium roasting, the almond and cocoa-like flavors reveal a refreshing spring-water-like aftertaste. The clean, clear, and wonderful balance leaves an endless aftertaste.
Geisha Coffee is particularly picky about its growing environment, requiring high altitude, cloud shade, fertile soil, and sufficient accumulated temperature. Aurora Coffee Estate is located in the northwestern corner of Chiriqui Province, Panama, with an average altitude of 1625 meters, annual average temperature between 16°C and 25°C, and average rainfall of approximately 3500 millimeters. The plantation uses semi-shade cultivation, with tree species all from local varieties, some of which are high-altitude Hass avocado trees. It is precisely this unique environment and climate that can cultivate the king of coffees.
The reason Geisha is more precious than gold is its extremely low production and the necessity to participate in auctions, making it very difficult to obtain raw Geisha beans. Of course, low production is just an excuse for the high price; what truly captivates people is the flavor that surpasses all other coffees in the world, which is the most important reason for Geisha's exceptional value. Currently, Geisha coffee mainly comes from Panama and Colombia, and recently, Geisha Village has also emerged.
La Esmeralda Estate is located on the slopes of Baru Volcano, the highest peak in Boquete, western Panama. The mild climate, fertile volcanic soil, appropriate rainfall, and varied microclimates provide perfect natural conditions for coffee cultivation. In 2017, La Esmeralda Estate's Geisha won the natural process category championship... which should be its 18th championship trophy. To stand out among many strong competitors year after year, in addition to the delicious genetic qualities of Geisha beans, excellent estate management and harvesting and processing methods are absolutely essential.
In the online public auction, the results of the latest "Best of Panama" 2017 season were announced. The highest price in this auction far exceeded previous price records. The natural processed Geisha from La Esmeralda Estate fetched an astonishing price of $601 per pound, which is equivalent to approximately 8,900 RMB per kilogram. If using 15 grams of beans for a cup of coffee, the raw bean cost alone reaches 133 RMB, not even accounting for transportation, labor, roasting, and other costs.
