After 1930, the renowned overseas Chinese leader Mr. Liang Jinshan brought coffee to Pupiao and Luoming for cultivation, continuing until the founding of New China. After 1952, under the guidance of expert Ma Guojin from the Baoshan Institute of Tropical Crops, large-scale coffee cultivation began in areas like Lujiang, with a history of nearly 60 years of large-scale cultivation.

In the mid-1990s, the cultivation scale once reached 4,000 hectares. By the end of 1997, the province's coffee cultivation area had reached 7,800 hectares. Currently, the province's cultivation area accounts for 70% of the national area, and production accounts for 83% of the national total. Whether in terms of cultivation area or coffee bean production, Yunnan coffee has established its dominant position in China.

The western and southern parts of Yunnan Province are located between 15°N latitude and the Tropic of Cancer. Most areas have an elevation between 1,000-2,000 meters, with predominantly mountainous and sloped terrain. The unique natural conditions—fertile soil, abundant sunshine, plentiful rainfall, and significant day-night temperature variations—create the distinctive characteristics of Yunnan small-seed coffee: strong but not bitter, fragrant but not intense, with a slight fruity note.

Coffee cultivation in Yunnan is mainly distributed in Lincang, Baoshan, Pu'er, and Dehong. These areas have natural resources of low latitude, high altitude, and large day-night temperature differences, making Yunnan a golden cultivation area for producing high-quality Arabica coffee.

Pu'er

Pu'er coffee has a century-long history, with cultivation beginning in the late 19th century and industrial development starting in 1988. Today, the city's coffee cultivation area reaches 767,000 mu, making it the mainland's largest cultivation area, highest production, and best-quality coffee production region and coffee trade distribution center.

Pu'er City is honored as the "Coffee Capital of China." Besides being China's main coffee-producing region, Pu'er coffee is also exported to more than 30 countries and regions in the Americas, Europe, and Asia, creating a new "black gold" market.

Lincang

Lincang City is located in the southwestern part of Yunnan Province, with the Tropic of Cancer crossing its southern part. It borders Pu'er to the east, Dali to the north, Baoshan to the west, and Myanmar to the southwest. Named for its proximity to the Lancang River, it is a shining pearl on the southwestern border of our country. Lincang's annual average temperature ranges between 16.8°C and 17.2°C, with distinct dry and wet seasons and abundant sunshine.

Baoshan

Yunnan Baoshan small-seed coffee has a long cultivation history. Baoshan small-seed coffee can be considered a national geographical indication product and is one of the better-quality coffees in the country and even globally.

Baoshan's average temperature is 21.5°C, reaching up to 40.4°C at its highest, with basically no frost throughout the year. It is recognized as the best cultivation area for small-seed coffee. The small-seed coffee cultivated here is famous both at home and abroad for being strong but not bitter, fragrant but not intense, with small, uniform beans, rich mellow flavor, and fruity notes.
