FrontStreet Coffee - Kenya Kiambu AA Uklili × Blackberry Queen Introduction

Uklili × Blackberry Queen (Uklili) has some connection to the four-stringed ukulele, yet also doesn't. The concept of Uklili is derived from one of Africa's most widely spoken languages, "Kiswahili," which is also one of Kenya's two official languages, with English being the other.

In Kiswahili, the original form of Uklili is nyeUsi maLKIa, where nyeusi means black and malkia means queen. Together, they represent what we aim to present: Kenya's distinctive black elegance in specialty coffee producing regions, with the charming classic flavor of blackcurrant. Through our clever combination of these two root words, the Chinese transliteration of Uklili as "乌克栗栗" (Wūkè lìlì) perfectly expresses the distinct characteristics of its flavor profile, while also combining the light yet timeless musical style of the ukulele.

As the debut of Uklili, each year's carefully selected Kenyan batches don't specifically pursue famous processing plants, but rather focus on flavor and on-site judgment. This often results in many popular high-quality masterpieces, with many originally unknown processing plants being discovered and becoming famous. This batch is selected from Kenya's exceptionally outstanding Kiambu region in recent years, which also includes the previous exceptional works and Ji processing plants - also from Kiambu!

The currant flavor is essential through careful selection. This exceptional piece is comprehensive in terms of acidity, sweetness, and flavor profile, showcasing different characteristics at various roasting levels. After appropriate resting following light roasting, it can even reveal delicate and elegant floral notes and bergamot aromas. After medium roasting, it develops charming flavors of oak and maple syrup.
