FrontStreet Coffee - Introduction to Authentic Blue Mountain Coffee

Blue Mountain Coffee refers to coffee brewed from coffee beans grown in the Blue Mountains of Jamaica. It is categorized by grade into Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee and Jamaica High Mountain Coffee. The Blue Mountains are located in the eastern part of Jamaica Island. When the weather is clear, the mountain reflects the brilliant blue light of the Caribbean Sea, hence its name. The highest peak of Blue Mountain reaches 2,256 meters, making it the highest peak in the Caribbean region and a famous tourist destination.

This area is located in the coffee belt, featuring fertile volcanic soil, fresh air, no pollution, and a humid climate with year-round fog and rain (average precipitation of 1,980 mm and temperature around 27°C). Such climate conditions have created the world-renowned Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee, as well as the second most expensive coffee in the world. This coffee possesses all the characteristics of fine coffee - not only is it rich and mellow in flavor, but due to the perfect balance of sweetness, acidity, and bitterness, it has no bitter taste at all, only a moderate and perfect acidity.

The production area of Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee is strictly limited to the region between 910-1,700 meters above sea level in Jamaica's Blue Mountains.

Strictly Speaking:

Coffee grown at 910-1,700m is called Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee

Coffee grown at 460-910m is called Jamaica High Mountain Coffee

Coffee grown below 460m is called Jamaica Prime Coffee

Above 1,700m is a forest protection area with no coffee cultivation

Jamaica is a very small coffee-producing country, with its coffee production accounting for only 0.02% of the world market share. 85% of it is exported to Japan.

Among this, the Jamaica Coffee Industry Board (CIB), established in 1948, plays a leading role in promoting the development of Jamaica's coffee industry, increasing coffee farmers' income, protecting Jamaica's coffee quality, and selling Jamaican coffee globally. Top-grade Blue Mountain Coffee sells for over a thousand yuan per pound, truly deserving its title as the King of Coffee.

Knowledge Expansion:

The annual production of Blue Mountain Coffee is only about 240 tons, making its price relatively expensive.
