FrontStreet Coffee's Pour-Over Coffee Bean Recommendation: Introduction to Hacienda La Esmeralda Red Label Geisha

Actually, FrontStreet Coffee has already introduced Geisha quite a few times, but we haven't covered the grading of Red Label Geisha yet. Today, we'll share some knowledge about Red Label Geisha, and I must say that I truly love this particular bean.

From 2004 to the present, we can still say this: Panama Geisha beans are the finest in the world, and among them, Hacienda La Esmeralda's Geisha stands out as the best of the best.

The legend continues~ In 2017, Hacienda La Esmeralda's Geisha won the natural processing category championship, which should be their 18th championship trophy. To stand out year after year among numerous strong competitors, besides the delicious genetics of Geisha beans, excellent coffee estate management, harvesting, and processing are absolutely essential. It's particularly worth mentioning that the owner of Hacienda La Esmeralda places great importance on environmental protection. Therefore, their produced coffee can participate in the Rainforest Alliance Cupping Competition and has brought back 5 championship trophies.

Hacienda La Esmeralda's Geisha grading is based on cupping scores and planting altitude, which is why their Geisha comes in Red Label, Green Label, and Blue Label!

Premium Grade - Red Label [Auction Batches]

Grown at altitudes of 1,600-1,800 meters

Cupping scores of 90 points or above

Must be from Jaramillo and Cavas Verdes estates, representing the highest quality Geisha beans

Geisha beans harvested from the highest points of the Boquete mountain region, possessing special, bright floral aromas and citrus notes

Coffee of this grade will be processed into natural or washed green beans

Can only be purchased through the annual global auction

The reason FrontStreet Coffee recommends this coffee bean is that it's relatively forgiving in extraction, but still quite challenging to control for beginners. The price of this coffee is also relatively high, but its rich floral and fruit aromas, citrus, honey, high sweetness, and smooth texture are favorites among many coffee enthusiasts, including FrontStreet Coffee.
