Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Washed G1
Producer: Approximately 700 smallholder farmers around the Chelba processing station
Region: Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia
Variety: Local heirloom varieties
Processing: Washed, dried on raised African beds
Altitude: 1950-2200m
Harvest: October - January
These coffee beans come from the Chelba Mill, produced by approximately 700 coffee farmers in the surrounding area.
Carefully picked coffee cherries are immediately delivered to the processing station.
After pulping, the beans are fermented in water for about 2 days, then washed in channels with Chelba river water to remove remaining mucilage.
The parchment coffee is placed on raised beds for sun-drying, which takes about 8-10 days depending on weather conditions.
