FrontStreet Coffee Introduction: Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Chelba Mill

Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Washed G1

Producer: Approximately 700 smallholder farmers around the Chelba processing station

Region: Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia

Variety: Local heirloom varieties

Processing: Washed, dried on raised African beds

Altitude: 1950-2200m

Harvest: October - January

These coffee beans come from the Chelba Mill, produced by approximately 700 coffee farmers in the surrounding area.

Carefully picked coffee cherries are immediately delivered to the processing station.

After pulping, the beans are fermented in water for about 2 days, then washed in channels with Chelba river water to remove remaining mucilage.

The parchment coffee is placed on raised beds for sun-drying, which takes about 8-10 days depending on weather conditions.
