Kenya's coffee-producing regions are famous for seven major areas: Thika, Kirinyaga, Mt. Kenya West, Nyeri, Kiambu, Ruiri, and Muranga. Among these, the foothills of Mt. Kenya and Aberdare serve as the primary production areas.

Nyeri Production Region

Located in central Kenya, Nyeri is home to the extinct volcano Mount Kenya. The region's red soil nurtures Kenya's finest coffee. Agriculture is extremely important here, with coffee being the primary crop. Cooperatives formed by small farmers are more common than large estates. This region has two harvest seasons, but coffee from the main season typically offers higher quality.

Kenyan 72-Hour Fermentation Washed Processing Method [K72]

Originating in Kenya, this method involves repeated cycles of fermentation and washing. Processing begins on the day of harvest, selecting only the highest quality coffee cherries for pulping and fermentation. The fermentation process lasts 24 hours, after which the beans are washed with clean river water. This is followed by another 24-hour fermentation in clean river water, then washing again. After repeating this cycle three times over 72 hours, the method becomes known as the Kenyan 72-hour fermentation washed processing method, abbreviated as [K72].

SL28

SL28 possesses mixed heritage from French Mission, Mocha, and Yemen Typica. The original goal in developing SL28 was to mass-produce coffee beans that combined high quality with disease and pest resistance. Although SL28's yield didn't meet expectations for mass production, its copper-colored leaves and broad bean shape produce wonderful sweetness, balance, and complex, varied flavors, with distinctive citrus and black plum characteristics.

SL34

SL34 shares similar flavor characteristics with SL28 but, in addition to complex, varied acidity and wonderful sweet finish, it has a heavier, richer body and cleaner mouthfeel than SL28. SL34 possesses heritage from French Mission, Bourbon, and more Typica varieties. Its bean appearance is similar to SL28, but it adapts better to sudden heavy rainfall.
