Brazil is the world's largest coffee-producing country. The Brazilian Rio Brilhante Estate comes from the Pantano micro-region in Cerrado, Brazil, which has obtained "Protected Designation of Origin" certification. This region boasts ideal climate conditions for coffee cultivation, with an average annual temperature of 24°C and annual rainfall of 1300-2000mm, featuring abundant rainfall and distinct wet and dry seasons. Estate owner Inacio Urban acquired this estate in 1984. In fact, the "Rio Brilhante" (Bright River) estate was named after the river that flows through it, which also serves as the irrigation water source for the coffee grown on this estate. The Cerrado region is also one of Brazil's more famous coffee-producing areas and is the only region with a protected geographical indication patent.

Brazil is the world's largest coffee producer, accounting for approximately 30% of global coffee production. However, due to Brazil's location in the tropical rainforest region, the terrain is relatively flat with few high-altitude mountain forests. Most coffee is grown in low-altitude, non-volcanic soil areas without much shade, leading to the disadvantages of fast-growing, large but soft-density Brazilian beans with limited flavor variation. Additionally, large-scale mechanical harvesting of coffee beans with vastly different maturity levels simultaneously has kept Brazilian coffee quality from being particularly outstanding, remaining in the commercial bean category.

After 2000, due to the incentive of coffee competitions, the quality of coffee beans produced in high-altitude areas of the south received recognition, particularly from farms around the Minas Gerais highlands. The coffee quality here is the leader among Brazilian beans and also has the largest production volume. For example, Cerrado in western Minas, Matas in the east, northern Bahia, or small farms in the south - Minas has almost become synonymous with Brazilian specialty coffee.

In recent years, coffee competitions have become more precisely categorized by processing methods (washed, semi-washed, honey, natural), developing various flavors, textures, and aftertastes that present a completely different profile from traditional Brazilian coffee. Particularly, honey and natural processing methods perform best, resulting in clean, low-acidity fruit aromas with reduced intense chocolate flavors.

Today, the Catuaí coffee from the Brazilian Rio Brilhante Estate introduced by FrontStreet Coffee is particularly special. Unlike the chocolate and nutty-flavored Brazilian coffees we've had before, this one actually carries peach wine flavors.
