With the widespread promotion of specialty coffee culture, drip bag coffee made from fresh roasted coffee beans ground to a specific coarseness has become an essential coffee product for office workers and home enthusiasts. Compared to pour-over coffee, drip bag coffee is both convenient and simple to prepare, allowing you to easily brew a cup of aromatic, full-bodied black coffee with rich aftertaste.
FrontStreet Coffee currently can produce drip bag coffee from all selected specialty coffee beans from various origins. All drip bag coffee uses beans that are ground immediately after roasting and cooling, then quickly packaged into 10g bags before being individually sealed.
The Secret to Delicious Drip Bag Coffee
To make delicious drip bag coffee, choosing those made from fresh roasted coffee beans is crucial! After coffee beans are roasted, they begin to slowly release carbon dioxide, which also carries away the coffee's aroma and flavor. Currently, all drip bag coffee and coffee beans sold by FrontStreet Coffee are shipped within 5 days of the roasting date.
Regarding the flavor of drip bag coffee, we actually have many different choices. For example, FrontStreet Coffee's menu offers over 50 different single-origin coffee beans that can be made into drip bags. If you like floral or fruity flavors, you can prioritize classic fruity acid-type drip bags such as Guji, Yirgacheffe, and Geisha. For those who love rich body and sweet aftertaste, we recommend choosing specialty beans featuring nutty flavors like Mandheling, Colombian Huila, and Jamaica Blue Mountain No. 1. Of course, if you neither accept too much acidity nor like bitterness, then FrontStreet Coffee would recommend choosing Honduras Sherry drip bags to enjoy a coffee with rich wine aroma anytime, anywhere.
The Optimal Tasting Period for Drip Bag Coffee
The production of drip bag coffee involves pre-grinding coffee beans, and the increased surface area of coffee particles accelerates the volatilization of carbon dioxide and aroma. Although FrontStreet Coffee individually seals the packages as quickly as possible after grinding, drip bag coffee's aroma will dissipate faster compared to whole coffee beans.
According to testing and comparison by FrontStreet Coffee, the optimal tasting period for fresh roasted and ground drip bag coffee is within 30 days after the roasting date. Generally, drip bag coffee beyond 30 days will have significantly diminished aroma and flavor, and the brewed coffee naturally won't be as fragrant.
Wrong Drip Bag Coffee Brewing Methods—Never Do These!
Ⅹ Randomly using a kettle to brew coffee. Although drip bag coffee is a simple brewing method, you can't brew it with your eyes closed. You still need to pay attention to water temperature, ratio, and pouring method.
Ⅹ Directly soaking the drip bag in a small cup. Even with correct parameters, this won't work well. Because the drip bag continuously soaks in water, it's prone to over-extraction.
Ⅹ Treating the drip bag like tea bags and soaking it in the cup.
Ⅹ Pouring the coffee grounds from the drip bag directly into the cup to brew.
Ⅹ Brewing the same drip bag coffee bag a second time.
The Correct Drip Bag Brewing Method:
Brewing temperature: 88-92°C (Adjust temperature according to bean roast level—light to medium roast recommends 90-91°C, medium-dark to dark roast recommends 88-89°C)
Brewing ratio: 1:15 (10g drip bag with 150g hot water)
Brewing technique: Simple three-stage method
Brewing equipment: Drip bag coffee pouring kettle (available for just over 10 yuan, can effectively control stable water flow), thermometer, and a cylindrical high-temperature resistant cup.
Drip Bag Coffee Brewing Steps:
1. Ensure your chosen cup is large enough so that during brewing, the drip bag doesn't touch the extracted coffee liquid.
2. Open the drip bag packaging, take out the drip bag, then tear it open along the dotted line. Gently pull apart the cardboard flaps on both sides and hang it on the cup.
3. First pour 30ml of water and wait 20-30 seconds for the coffee grounds to bloom. Then pour water two more times at 10-second intervals, each time about 60ml.
4. After the coffee liquid finishes dripping, you can remove and discard the drip bag. Then shake the cup to mix evenly before enjoying.
Attention!!! You absolutely must not brew it a second time! Because all the delicious substances have already dissolved into the coffee during the first brewing.
