The History of Connorsdale Estate
The Jamaican coffee brand Connorsdale Estate was established in 1800 by the British and is one of the earliest estates established for commercial coffee cultivation.
Local farmers discovered that the coffee quality grown in this area was significantly superior to other regions, so they gathered near Connorsdale Estate to start growing coffee. Since then, Connorsdale has developed from a single estate into a large-scale coffee growing area.
From 1801 to 1825, the first-generation estate owner was Colin McClarty, and the second-generation owner was his son Alexander McClarty.
From 1825 to 1842, the estate's management rights were transferred to the third-generation owner Alexander Campbell.
After 1842, records about this estate disappeared, and Connorsdale Estate vanished from history.
Today, only the ruins of the coffee grinding factory from that time can be found in the local area.
Geographic Advantages
The Connorsdale region has an average altitude of about 1000 meters. Because it is located in the central position of the Blue Mountain area, it is also known as the "Heart of the Blue Mountains." Nearby is Jamaica's largest national park and forest reserve, providing unique climate and geographical conditions for coffee cultivation.
Brand Revival
Later, the Sharp family's coffee trading company revived this ancient brand.
They purchase fresh coffee cherries from farmers near Connorsdale Estate and process them through grinding and barrel-filling at the B.M.C.P factory operated by the Coffee Trading Company. Japan's ATAKA Trading also invested in the B.M.C.P factory and exclusively acquired Blue Mountain No. 1 coffee.
Flavor Profile
Local coffee farmers have persisted in growing the old Typica variety. The exquisite Blue Mountain coffee offers gentle and bright acidity with a fresh and elegant mouthfeel. It possesses excellent body and balance, with a sweet aftertaste that lingers on the palate, providing an unparalleled wonderful experience.
